Acts (Program #23) – The Propagation in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria through the Ministry of Peter’s Company (18)

The early Church life of the saints in first-century Jerusalem was typified by extremes in their environment. On the one hand, the Lord was moving mightily among them and their enjoyment of Christ was nearly boundless. But outwardly, their environment was harsh due to the oppression and persecution by the religious and political leaders. This persecution resulted in the eventual scattering of believers away from Jerusalem. But, this scattering was used by God to spread the Gospel into new regions. Stay with us for another remarkable exploration of the book of Acts on today’s life study of the Bible.

John (Program #9) – An Introduction to Life and Building (4)

God embodied Himself in Christ for our enjoyment.  John 1:16 tells us “of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.”  The fullness of the Godhead dwells in this Jesus bodily, for our enjoyment. This is grace. Grace is just God Himself for our enjoyment. When you enjoy God, when you participate in God, that is grace. Grace is God for your enjoyment, not in doctrine but in your experience as your strength, as your life, as your comfort, as your rest, as your power, righteousness and holiness. John (Program #7) – An Introduction to Life and Building (3)

The message we have covered tells us that Christ, as the Word, came as life and light for the purpose to produce many children. Keep this clear point within you deeply. John chapter 1:4 tells us that Christ as the Word, which was God Himself, came as life to us and as light shining with us for the purpose to produce, to bring forth many children of God, that God may have the enlargement, that God may have a corporate expression. This is revealed in the first 13 verses in chapter 1.

1 Peter (Program #13) -Growth in Life and Its Results (3)

After establishing a marvelous, organic metaphor at the beginning of chapter 2 in his first epistle concerning our enjoyment of Christ in His word as the nourishing milk is to a new born babe, the apostle Peter suddenly changes the metaphor to something mineral; he picks up the thought of the Old Testament prophet Isaiah even quoting him in chapter 28:16 “Therefore thus says The Lord Jehovah: Indeed I lay a stone in Zion as a foundation, A tested stone, A precious cornerstone as a foundation firmly established; He who believes will not hasten away.”  Peter shows us that the same Christ who is the very milk in the word to the believers is also this stone; a tested, precious cornerstone for the foundation of God’s building.  But Peter then goes even further than Isaiah and points out that this stone chose by God and precious can also be a stone of stumbling or even a fence to those who don’t believe.
