Matthew (Program #5) – The King’s Antecedents & Status (5)

A very well-know verse in Matthew chapter 1 tells us “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel” (which is translated, God with us).”  We come today to the mysterious but marvelous birth of Christ in the gospel of Matthew.

Matthew (Program #4) – The King’s Antecedents & Status (4)

We had 3 remarkable life study programs covering a passage of the New Testament that I think most people either ignore altogether or may at most skim over the matter of the genealogy of Christ at the begining of the gospels.  But by now it is really clear to anybody who has been listening we have been missing a lot.

Matthew (Program #3) – The King’s Antecedents & Status (3)

Whatever is recorded in the Bible whether in the Old Testament or New Testament is related to Christ.  Nothing make this more clear than the genealogy of Christ recorded in the first chapter of the New Testament.

Matthew (Program 2) – The King’s Antecedents & Status (2)

All mankind can trace his begining back to Adam.  But in Galatians chapter 3:7 says “Know then that they who are of faith, these are sons of Abraham.”  Two genealogies; one to Adam, one to Abraham.

The Bible is God’s speaking.  It  has two sections; the Old Testament and the New Testament.   The opening words of the New Testament begin with the look at the generations or genealogy of the Lord Jesus Christ.  These 17 verses with hard to pronounce names revealed the humanity of our Savior Christ.  This will surprise you, enlighten you but most of all draw you to this most wonderful person in the universe…

Colossians (Program #34) – Rooted and Built Up in Christ With the Processed God

Here’s a question for you to ponder, “Does God have a history?” What does the Bible say? Of course it says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” and that’s clear enough. But, in the New Testament’s first book Matthew, we discover that God is not just simply God; He is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – God. And even more incredibly, He has become the enter-able God. Our God does have a history, a mysterious history. And to unlock it, Colossians gives us the key in chapter 2:2, “That their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together … unto the full knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ.” Christ, the mystery of God is also the history of God.

1 & 2 Samuel (Program #29) – The Unique Work of the Processed Triune God

In 2 Samuel, the Lord through the Prophet Nathan prophesied to David the king, “Moreover Jehovah declares to you that Jehovah will make you a house. When your days are fulfilled and you sleep with your fathers, I will raise up your seed after you, which will come forth from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. It is he who will build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.” Properly understood, this passage constitutes one of the greatest prophecies in the entire Old Testament.

In Matthew in the New Testament, chapter 16, the Lord Jesus makes a similar prophecy to His disciples. “I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” This passage equally constitutes one of the greatest prophecies in the New Testament as well. God’s desire to build a dwelling for Himself and for us, from the beginning of the Bible through to the very end.

Acts (Program #3) – Introduction and the Preparation

In the gospel of Matthew, Peter has an exalted moment, where at one time he sees Christ as the son of the living God. Then, a few short verses later, the Lord turns to him and rebukes him, saying “Get behind me Satan”.

What does this show us about our brother Peter? What does this show us about our own need of spiritual growth, maturity, even training?

Luke (Program #1) – Introduction, Subject and Contents of the Gospel (1)

The New Testament begins with four different accounts of the life of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Matthew is profound presenting us with Christ as the king in His kingdom; John is mysterious, showing us Christ as the very God; but Luke though not as profound or as mysterious is altogether sweet and pleasant because Luke unveils Jesus Christ as a man. A man who is both sweet and pleasant because His living displays and expresses the very nature and essence of God lived out in His perfect humanity. This is not just a man but the Man-Saviour.
