God’s faithful servant Daniel not only interpreted the dreams of kings but also saw visions directly from God himself. Visions revealing God’s economy. Today on this life study of the Bible from the book of Daniel, we have reached the halfway point of Daniel. We are now going to get into the final six chapters containing many of Daniel’s visions.

The first section of Daniel or the first six chapters really focuses on the victory in captivity for Daniel and his three companions over Satan’s schemes.  But today we start the second section of Daniel; chapters 7 to 12 with the visions of the overcoming Daniel.

The Old testament book of Daniel is of course one of the great story books in the Bible.  Children and adults alike love these stories and the inspiration that countless believers have derived from them from over the years. But much more than just wonderful and inspiring stories, these chapters convey tremendous insights into God’s move on this earth in His economy.  This deeper view not only inspires us but it can compel us to join with God.  Not just to live a proper christian life but to actually become engaged with Him for the accomplishment of His eternal purpose.

Daniel (Program #7) – The Victory of the Young Descendants of God’s Degraded Elect (5)

“The handwriting is on the wall.” Well nearly all of us have heard this phrase, but did you know that it comes from Daniel chapter 5?

The writing on the wall from a mysterious hand is the story here.  The main character today that Daniel encounters is this man, this king named Belshazzar.  Belshazzar is a descendant of Nebuchadnezzar.  To get the context of the handwriting on the wall we begin with the verses in chapter 5:1-4.  This was quite a  humiliation quite an insult to the God of heaven; to take the very items that have been used for the worship of the one True God and use them now for the worship and praise of these idols.  This really provides a setting for another victory of the young overcomers that the Lord has sovereignly arranged to be in the house of Belshazzar the king in Babylon.

Daniel is a book of wonderful Bible stories but in reality these stories convey not just moral lessons for children. They convey the reality of God’s economy to us.

Daniel is a book that has a lot of dreams in it and we have another dream today that comes up in Daniel chapter 4.  In chapter 2 we have the dream of the great human image and really that is the central focus of this entire book. Now again today King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has a second dream….

One of the best testimonies of victory over idol worship found in the bible is in Daniel chapter 3.  Here God can boast to Satan that His overcomers are willing to die in a blazing furnace of fire rather than worship something other then the true and living God.  In this life study of Daniel today we are going to find out what makes all the difference when we are faced with the fiery situations that at times do occur in our lifetime.

In Daniel chapter 2 there is an impressive human image which is the controlling vision in the entire book of Daniel.  Today we want to consider this image and how close we are to Christ’s coming as the smiting stone to crush it and all that it represents.

Four young captives were victorious in Babylon, Daniel and his three friends overcame the devilish blinding that keeps people from seeing God’s vision of human government throughout history.  We are going to see some of that victory and the vision today on this life-study of Daniel.

Today we want to discuss the dream which Nebuchadnezzar who is the king of Babylon had.  In the dream he saw a human image which was interpreted by Daniel.  Let’s look at the verses in this story from chapter 2 beginning from verse 32.  The king Nebuchadnezzar has had this dream and Daniel one of these four victorious young ones who has been taken captive from Israel is about to interpret the dream for the king…

Daniel (Program #2) – The Victory of the Young Descendants of of God’s Degraded Elect Over Satan’s Further Device (1)

The book of Daniel in the Old Testament opens with the account of the Lord giving the children of Israel into captivity verse 1& 2. “In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim the king of Judah Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.  And the Lord gave Jehoiakim the king of Judah into his hand with some of the vessels of the house of God; and he brought them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god, and he brought the vessels into the treasury of his god.” This account of the captivity of the children of Israel in Babylon is really the focus and topic seemingly of the book of Daniel.

Daniel (Program #1) – An Introductory Word

The destiny of Israel and all human government being for Christ are the subject of the book of Daniel of the Old Testament. A very intriguing book and a mysterious book, this will not be another of the common studies of the prophesies of Daniel. Rather based upon a lifetime of study this series of messages will show God’s economy in Daniel in relation to Christ, in relation to Israel and to the Gentile powers. It is not a long life study but the perspective is full of life and full of supply because the perspective is that of God’s eternal economy with the goal of ministering life through the Word.  Hence we call it a life study.

Ezekiel (Program #25) – The Holy Land and the Holy City

Clearly the subject and central focus of the last section of the book of Ezekiel is the temple, the house of God. Show the house to the house, the Lord tells Ezekiel and that is exactly what he does in the final chapters. Yet, there’s a very profound postscript to Ezekiel’s vision that is found in the final chapters of the book and that is the land upon which the temple sits. In fact the land and the house are the central focus of the entire Old Testament. Recall Jehovah’s words to Joshua following the death of Moses as the children of Israel were encamped at the border of the good land in Canaan, “Moses My servant is dead; now then arise, and cross over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land which I am giving to them, to the children of Israel. Every place on which the sole of your foot treads I have given to you, as I promised Moses…Be strong and take courage, for you will cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give to them.” (Joshua 1:2-3,6). Well if the temple typifies the church as the fulfillment of the house of God, what then does this land typify?
