Matthew (Program #22) – The Decree of the Kingdom’s Constitution (10)

Matthew 6:21 says “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  This simple expression is full of meaning.  If we expect to get our heart on heaven and on the heavenly things, we need to get our treasure there first.

Matthew (Program #21) – The Decree of the Kingdom’s Constitution (9)

Matthew 6:1 says “but take heed not to do your righteousness before men in order to be gazed at by them; otherwise, you have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens.”   It then goes on to list three activities that were frequently done by the religious people of that day in public; to pray, to give alms to the poor and to fast.  But the Lord’s encouragement to His people is to do these things in secret where only He can see.

Isaiah (Program #31) – A Twig from the Stem of Jesse & a Branch from the Root of Jesse (1)

Isaiah 11 contains a well-known description of the Kingdom of God where the wolf dwell with the lamb and the leopard with the kid, even a nursing babe is safe in the cobra’s den.  Makes a great bible story for our children doesn’t it?  But when will there be reality to the story?  It will come when the Christ of reality is fully administering His righteous kingdom on the earth.

Isaiah (Program #30) – The Great Light for the Shining in the Darkness

Darkness.  Just the word conveys a lot of images.  It’s one thing to be in a dark room, a room void of light.  It’s another thing to feel darkness within.  It’s possibly the most graphic symbol of what it is to be without God.  We have all been there, may be you are there right now.  Isaiah 9 says “The people who walked in the darkness have seen a great light; Upon those who dwell in the land of the shadow of death Light has shined.”

Matthew (Program #20) – The Decree of the Kingdom’s Constitution (8)

For centuries, Christians have not had a clear understanding of the law.  On the one had Romans and Galatians tell us that the law is over.  For example, Romans 10:4 says “Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to everyone who believes.”  Base on verses like that a lot of Christians thinks that we can ignore the law altogether…

Matthew (Program #19) – The Decree of the Kingdom’s Constitution (7)

In the Old Testament law it was unlawful for a man to commit murder or to commit adultery.   But in the gospel of Matthew, in the New Testament even to hate someone or just to look upon someone with lust is to fall short of the standard of the kingdom of the heavens.

Isaiah (Program #29) – A Sanctuary to the Positive Ones…a Trap and a Snare to the Negative Ones

1 Peter chapter 2 reveals Christ as the stone which the builders rejected.  “This has become the head of the corner, and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense; who stumble at the word,”  This word was quoted from Isaiah 8 and reveals Christ not simply as the Savior but as the One of God’s purpose and plan.  How do you know Him?  Do you know Him as your Savior?  If you do, do you know Him as the Stone?

Matthew (Program #18) – The Decree of the Kingdom’s Constitution (6)

Matthew 5:17 says “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish, but to fulfill.”  Yet in other places in the New Testament we are told that the law has been done away with.   This has made the subject of the law a subject of great controversy and debate on Christians for hundreds of years.  In the Old Testament it was clear that God dealt with His people through the principle of the law.  But in the New Testament that principle has been replaced by the principle of faith.  So does that mean that the believers now has no obligations to conduct themselves according to the high standard of Scriptures?

Isaiah (Program #28) – A Child of both the Divine and Human Natures…

All true believers love God’s word and love the genuine and undeniable words of prophecy.  It seems that most people today may favor prophecy concerning Christ’s second coming.  But much of the richest prophecy in Scripture concerns His first coming.  Like these famous words of Isaiah written some 700 hundred years before Christ’s birth.  Chapter 7 verse 14 says “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will conceive and will bear a son, and she will call his name Immanuel.”  Chapter 9, verse 6, “For a child is born to us, A son is given to us; And the government Is upon His shoulder; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”  Please stay with us for this extraordinary life study of the Bible.

Matthew (Program #17) – The Decree of the Kingdom’s Constitution (5)

The teaching and preaching in the gospel of Matthew concerning the kingdom begins with repentance; “Repent for the kingdom of the heavens is drawn near”.  To repent is to have a complete change of mind.  After dealing with our mind however, the kingdom then becomes a matter of our spirit; “blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens” and finally “blessed are the pure in heart”.
