Revelation (Program #65) – The New Jerusalem (7)

The universe, at its centre, is being administered by God. And God’s desire in this universe is to be expressed. These two items – His administration and His expression – are not only important to Him now, but they will remain together for eternity.

Isaiah (Program #3) – The Salvation of Jehovah to His Beloved People and the Nations (2 & 3)

“Come let us reason together”, Isaiah the Old Testament prophet declares on behalf of God “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow”.  How beautifully these Old Testament words point us to our dear Lord Jesus and His all-sufficient sacrifice for sin.  This is a well-know verse in Isaiah but the context and the whole scene unveiled here is not so well-known.  Stay us today as we explore once again Jehovah God and His loving and righteous dealings with His people.

Revelation (Program #64) – The New Jerusalem (6)

The final two chapters of the Bible reveal the final destination for both God and man. Not heavenly mansions, but the living, built up city composed of God and His redeemed people. Rev 21:22 says “And I saw no temple in it, for its temple is the Lord God, the Almighty and the Lamb.”  This city of course is the New Jerusalem, the focus and subject of the final pages of the Bible. As such we do well to focus on it ourselves…

Isaiah (Program #2) – The Salvation of Jehovah to His Beloved People and the Nations (1)

“The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.  Hear, O heavens, and hearken, O earth, For Jehovah has spoken: I have brought up children, and I have raised them; And yet they have rebelled against Me.”   These are the words of the Old Testament prophet Isaiah as he began his book of prophecy.  God’s people have rebelled and their righteous and loving Father after confronting them with His complains begins the work of chastisement and drawing the stubborn people back to Himself.  How does God deal with His own when they strayed?  What can we see from this ancient account that is meaningful for us today as we live the Christian life?

Isaiah (Program #1) – An Introductory Word

A well-known verse from Isaiah chapter 9 says “For a child is born to us, A son is given to us; And the government Is upon His shoulder; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”  These beautiful words of poetry and prophecy were spoken hundreds of years before the One to whom they so clearly pointed would come.  But a more clear and unmistakable portrait of our Savior Christ  cannot be found anywhere in Scripture.  These are the words of the Old Testament prophet Isaiah.  His book of poetry and prophecy stands as one of the most magnificent in the entire Bible.

Revelation (Program #62) – The New Jerusalem (4)

What is the appearance of God?  According to Revelation chapter 4 verse 3, it’s jasper – the same substance as the New Jerusalem in Revelation 21 verse 11. On today’s life study of the Bible from Revelation, we are going to talk about this unified or unique appearance of God and His people.

Song of Songs (Program #10) – The Four Stages of Spiritual Experience in Song of Songs

To enter into the real intrinsic significance of the Song of Songs, we have to first understand that this lovely, short, poetic love story is actually a detailed portrait of the lover of Christ’s personal and intimate experience of Him. The full experience of the believer is shown in the four stages in the book of Song of Songs beginning with pursuing Him, then experiencing the cross and dying to the self, followed by living in ascension and becoming a new creation, and finally responding to the highest call to Christian life – to pass through the veil of the flesh, to dwell in God Himself and allow Him to dwell in us. If we have a clear view of these four stages, we will not only fully understand this book, but we will have priceless understanding that will sustain us through our whole Christian life.

Revelation (Program #61) – The New Jerusalem (3)

Revelation, the final book of the Bible, opens many things to us in its 22 chapters. But the key to unlocking these revelations is to realize that primarily, this is a book of signs and symbols. The final sign, that of a city called New Jerusalem reveals God’s ultimate intention and our ultimate destiny. To see this, however, requires not just our natural understanding. Rev 21:10 says, “And he carried me away in spirit onto a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.” If we can be in spirit as John was, and in a sense, be carried away to a high mountain by the Lord’s mercy, we can see this city as well.
