Revelation (Program #61) – The New Jerusalem (3)

Revelation, the final book of the Bible, opens many things to us in its 22 chapters. But the key to unlocking these revelations is to realize that primarily, this is a book of signs and symbols. The final sign, that of a city called New Jerusalem reveals God’s ultimate intention and our ultimate destiny. To see this, however, requires not just our natural understanding. Rev 21:10 says, “And he carried me away in spirit onto a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.” If we can be in spirit as John was, and in a sense, be carried away to a high mountain by the Lord’s mercy, we can see this city as well.

Revelation (Program #60) – The New Jerusalem (2)

Of all the revelations in the book of Revelation, the most profound is the final one. Seen in chapters 21 and 22,

“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and the sea is no more. And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice out of the throne, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will tabernacle with them, and they will be His peoples, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. ” – Rev 21:1-3

What these verses, in fact, what these chapters reveal, is not heaven with streets of gold and mansions, but rather a spiritual building, a composition of God with His redeemed people that comes out of heaven to the new earth.

Many Christians believe their ultimate destiny is to go to heaven. But this verse, at the end of the Bible in the book of Revelation, shows us that the New Jerusalem comes down out of heaven from God. Esther (Program #2) – The Open Salvation of the Hiding God in Secrecy

The story recorded in the book of Esther is for the keeping of the lineage of the genealogy of Christ through the survival of Israel in their captivity that Christ might be brought into the human race. If all the Jews had been destroyed during the time of Esther, which was what Satan’s plot was, then there would have been no lineage of Christ’s genealogy for Christ to be brought into humanity.

Nehemiah (Program #5) – The Leadership of Nehemiah for the Reconstitution of the Nation of God’s Elect

Nehemiah loved God and he loved God’s interest on earth concerning His economy. This interest included the good land, the temple and the city of Jerusalem all of which Nehemiah loved. Even though he was a common person, without a rank such as that of a king or of a captain in the army, he took care of God’s interest on the earth.

Nehemiah (Program #4) – The Reconstitution of the Nation of God’s Elect (2)

The books of Ezra and Nehemiah bear a strong intrinsic significance for the Lord’s recovery today. We should not think that the Old Testament is unrelated to us. The Bible is written in two sections – the Old Testament and the New Testament. The first section contains pictures while the second section contains the fulfillment of what is signified by the pictures. Without an intrinsic understanding of the Old Testament types, it is not easy to understand the fulfillment of God’s economy in the New Testament.

Numbers (Program #32) – A Vital Sketch of the Divine Revelation (2)

Apparently, the Old Testament has nothing to do with the church.  After all, the church didn’t even come into being until the book of Acts.  Actually however, the history of Israel recorded in the Old Testament is a picture of the church and the church life.  If we have this view, this understanding, we will see that the divine revelation in the Old Testament books such as Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers give us a picture and a full type of the church in the mystical union with the all-inclusive Christ.
