Job (Program #7) – The First of the Three Rounds (3) and (4)

In Job’s unyielding vindication under his extreme sufferings, he said in Job 10:1-2, “My soul loathes my own life; I will let my complaint have free course in me; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul. I will say to God, Do not account me wicked; Make known to me why You contend with me.”

1 & 2 Chronicles (Program #2) – The Reproduction of God

The books of 1 & 2 Chronicles are unique among the books of history in the Old Testament in that they traced the history of God’s move in man, all the way back to Adam.  We know the story, “in the beginning God created the universe”.  But one in that universe rebelled against God, corrupting and ruining His entire creation thereby.  So God came in and restored the spoiled situation and in the process, created man in His image and with His likeness.  This makes man unique in all of God’s creation.  For man’s destiny as revealed in God’s word is that “he is of God’s kind” with the capacity to contain God’s life and nature, making him not just a good man but making him through God’s full salvation, a duplication of Christ, the first God-man.

Ephesians (Program #1) – Introductory Word to the Book of Ephesians (1)

Many books in the New Testament deal with practical issues associated with sinful fallen man with his struggle with problems, failures and difficulties. These books are written from the perspective or point of view of the sinner. One book in the New Testament however, uniquely takes God’s perspective, God’s view – and that book is Ephesians. Because of this very fact, many scholars consider this book to be the highest of all in Scripture. What this book reveals primarily is the church – the church not as an organization, a society or a school but as the center and focus of God’s eternal purpose. God desires us to see the church and to value the church as He does. But in order to do so, we need to climb up to that same vantage point and view the church from the heavenlies as God does.

Mark (Program #43) – The Death and Resurrection of the Slave-Savior for the Accomplishment of God’s Redemption (5)

The account of the resurrection is unique in each of the four gospels. Each one brings its’ own prospective and emphasis to this greatest of all event.  The account in Mark is typically uncomplicated but deeply and profoundly touching.

Here are the first 11 verses from Mark chapter 16:

And when the Sabbath was past, Mary the Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might come and anoint Him.
And very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb as the sun rose.
And they said to one another, Who will roll away the stone for us from the door of the tomb?
And when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away, for it was extremely large.
And when they entered into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right, clothed in a white robe, and they were alarmed.
And he said to them, Do not be alarmed. You are seeking Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has been raised; He is not here. Behold the place where they laid Him.
But go, tell His disciples and Peter that He is going before you into Galilee. There you will see Him, even as He told you.
And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
Now after He had risen early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary the Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons.
She went and reported to those who had been with Him, who were mourning and weeping.
And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.

Mark (Program #6) – The Ways the Slave-Savior Carried Out His Gospel Service (1)

The gospel of Mark is unique in many ways among the four gospel accounts of the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus on the earth. One of the unique aspects of Mark, is that, it is arranged according to the actual historical sequence of events. Well, this can make it more difficult to study and understand but the divine and sovereign arrangement is really quite marvelous.

Chapter 1 for example, presents us with the complete contains of the gospel.  And chapter 2 follows then with 5 cases illustrate how the Lord Jesus as the slave savior carry out the gospel in His service to all the weak, hungry and needy people.  The first of these 5 cases is a really marvelous account that when understood correctly open the way for all us, fallen sinners to enter into the rich gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
