Galatians (Program #27) – Walk by the Spirit Not by the Flesh

In a very well-known passage of the New Testament, the Apostle Paul tells us in Galatians 5:16 to walk by the Spirit. Our walk is how we live, how we move, and even how we have our being. It’s a very inclusive term. To meet the spiritual requirement of the New Testament, we need to live, move, and have our being by the Spirit. Practically, what does this mean? This is our focus on today’s life study of the Bible.

Galatians (Program #16) – The Spirit versus the Flesh

Galatians 3 shows us a striking contrast between the flesh and the Spirit. In chapter 5, this contrast even becomes a warfare. This Spirit wars against the flesh, and the flesh against the Spirit. This contrast, and even more this warfare, holds tremendous implications for believers of Christ in our own daily walk. Don’t miss today’s life study of the Bible.

Galatians (Program #10) – No Longer I, but Christ Living in Me

We have come to an extreme crucial verse in the New Testament economy. Today we’re on Galatians 2:20:

“I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

This is a mysterious verse to be sure, but one that contains crucial revelation of what it means to live the Christian life. Some people have used the expression “an exchanged life” to help describe the truth that’s being conveyed here. Is this a valid way of looking at it?

No. It’s not a valid way, even though some of us at one point considered using this expression. The reason I say it’s not valid is because it doesn’t apply to the whole verse…

Galatians (Program #8) – The Truth of the Gospel

What is the function of the commandments to a Christian? Well perhaps first, it would be best to see what it’s not. The Apostle Paul in Galatians says it very well. “And knowing that a man is not justified out of works of law, but through faith in Jesus Christ … because out of the works of law no flesh will be justified” (Galatians 2:16). If the law was not given in order to justify man before God, then why was it given? We’ll open up this mysterious box on today’s life study of the Bible.

Galatians (Program #7) – Freedom in Christ Versus Slavery Under Law

The book of Galatians is a book of contrasts. For example, God’s Son is contrasted with man’s religion. And, freedom in Christ is in contrast to slavery under the law. And, the spirit is in contrast with the flesh. To understand the depths of this book is to understand these great contrasts. Please stay with us for today’s life study of the Bible.

Romans (Program #69) – God Condemning Sin in the Flesh That We May be in the Spirit

We have a very helpful program today dealing with a topic that’s often debated among believers.

Today we have one of the great goals that we as Christians set for ourselves and that is the matter of walking according to spirit. Is this a proper goal for us as Christ to set for ourselves?   It seems like in one sense like one of those nebulous and kind of spiritual items that may be somewhat difficult to get a handle on in our experience.

Of course It is very critical that we Christians walk according to the spirit.  In Epistles, Paul even commands us to do this.  more…

Romans (Program #67) – God Condemning Sin in the Flesh

The Spirit of life, the life-giving Spirit in my spirit is the remedy for the subjective condemnation we all experienced.

In Romans chapter 3 we clearly saw that God’s condemnation falls upon all man but in Christ we absolutely set free from that condemnation by the shed blood of Christ. But what about the inner, self condemnation? How are we free from that?

Today we got a marvelous, marvelous word before us.  We touched this topic some weeks back in Romans 8, the first time through.  We are coming back today with some very fresh speaking and insights from Witness Lee.   What we mean by two kinds of condemnation?

Romans (Program #51) – The Flesh and the Spirit

The Bible reveals to us three big enemies to our Christian life: sin, Satan and death. All of these three take advantage of our fallen flesh to frustrate us, but God’s approach to our flesh may surprise you. That’s the focus on today’s Life-Study of the Bible.

In these chapters in Romans, we’re seeing the three enemies and how they are seen as enemies that reign over us. In Romans 5:21, it mentions that sin reigned in death. In 5:14, it says “death reigned”. We learned from the book of Acts that Satan has some kind of authority like the power of darkness. These are the three big enemies. Now, in 5:17, we are promised that those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through Jesus Christ. more…

Romans (Program #36) – Being Freed from Death (1)

We sinners are not sinners only because we commit some sin. Through the fall of Adam, we all were constituted sinners by being born in sin.

We’re somewhere at the midpoint in our study of Romans. I think it’d be helpful if we reviewed briefly and summarized the central focus of this book that has been dubbed, as we mentioned before, “The Gospel of God”.  This book of Romans is called “The Gospel of God” because it gives us the full gospel including the judicial redemption by Christ’s death and the organic salvation in His resurrection life. The focus of the revelation of this book is that God is making sons out of sinners to form the Body of Christ to express Christ. In this book, we have seen also that God is expressed in the Son, Jesus Christ, and further that the Son is expressed in a Body. We have seen and we will see further that the Body is expressed in the local churches.

That’s “The gospel of God” and Romans, as we’ve indicated, has also been called the fifth gospel.

Romans (Program #14) – The Bondage of the Law in Our Flesh (2)

Simply speaking, we just need to turn to the spirit in our spirit, set our mind on the spirit and switch on the law of the spirit of life. Then we can overcome the law of sin and death in our being; and spontaneously, we live Christ and express Christ.

If you have ever struggled with wanting to do the right thing, but failing and feeling condemned. You are experiencing what Paul talked about in Romans chapter 7. And you won’t want to miss today’s life study of Romans with Witness Lee. Thank you for joining us today as we explore one of the most perplexing aspects of the Christian life..
