1 & 2 Chronicles (Program #7) – The Supplement to the History of the Kings of Judah (2)

Hezekiah, one of the top kings of Judah is a breath of fresh air to readers of the Bible.  Today we are going to spend our entire life study from Chronicles enjoying this fresh air.

This is a sweet program and a program of fresh air.  The reason for that is because with Hezekiah we see with so many positive things; we see recovery, we see restoration and the result of that is bringing revival to God’s people.  What a contrast to the black situation there in Hezekiah’s day.

1 & 2 Kings (Program #17) – The Reign of Hezekiah over Judah

During the long history of the kings of Israel and Judah recorded in the Old Testament spanning a period of several hundred years, there are very few positive accounts.  Of course, we remember David, who was according to God’s heart though he himself was not without his own serious failure.  But not until we come to Hezekiah near the end of the account in 2 Kings do we find another who was nearly as positive as David.  Yet despite this dark negative period in the history of God’s people, God maintained His thin line of overcomers, mainly among the prophets such as Isaiah.  In fact the book of Isaiah gives us a direct linkage to God’s New Testament economy and even to Christ Himself.  As Isaiah focuses our attention on Christ, we want to focus on Him in His New Testament economy today.

Isaiah (Program #15) – An Example of Seeking after Jehovah and Trusting in Him

For the first 35 chapters of his book of poetry and prophecy, Isaiah focused on the nation of Israel and God’s dealing with them.  But then four entire chapters are devoted to the story of Hezekiah, King of Israel.  These chapters provide a striking portrait of a godly man, what most of us would love to emulate.  But if we look closely we will see signs in this man reveal a person occupied more with self than with God’s own interests.  Are we such a person?  Stay with us today and we may see much of our own life in the story of Hezekiah on today’s life study of the Bible.
