Matthew (Program #75) – Wrap-up

Matthew 24:14 says, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole inhabited earth for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

All believers would like to know when the Lord Jesus will come again. Even many who do not profess to believe are intrigued by this question as well. The gospel of Matthew, more than any other book in scripture, gives us clear and definite signs. The chief among all its prophecies is one contained in this verse. The preaching not of the general common gospel, but rather the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom.

Matthew (Program #69) – Prophecy of the Kingdom (8)

In Matthew 25, the Lord Jesus reveals that when He comes back to earth, He will sit on the throne of His glory in judgement of the unbelievers who are alive at His Coming. How will He judge them?  Well, not as we might think. For as unbelievers, they cannot be judged according to the gospel of grace. Yet the righteous ones in this judgement are able to enter into eternal life.  The mystery of the eternal gospel is our focus today.

Matthew (Program #65) – Prophecy of the Kingdom (4)

Of all the parables in the final chapters of Matthew, none is more striking and sobering than the parable of the ten virgins in chapter 25. Coupled with the other parables around it, we can clearly see that at His Coming, the Lord will judge and examine His people, the believing and saved ones. This judgment will not be concerning sin or our eternal salvation, of that we have been assured. But in the matters of watchfulness and faithfulness we will be examined. Not at the risk of our salvation, but at the potential risk of the reward of the enjoyment of the kingdom.

Revelation (Program #67) – The Conclusion

In the last chapter of Revelation, the apostle John reports the Lord’s final words to him and to us.  Chapter 22 verse 6 to 7 says, “And he said to me, These words are faithful and true; the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His angel to show to His slaves the things which must quickly take place. And behold, I come quickly.  Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this scroll.”

Twice more in this chapter, the Lord repeats the warning that He is coming quickly. Like John, we all need to be those who heed these words and this warning…

Revelation (Program #41) -The Beast Out of the Sea (1)

Revelation chapter 13 tells us a day is coming when the great dragon, Satan, will be cast out of heaven. And he will stand on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea; and out of the sea, a beast will come up.

Who is this beast? As those who love the Lord Jesus and His coming, the Bible tells us clearly how to know the identity of this beast, the Antichrist.

Revelation (Program #7) – The Local Churches

The practical revelation of the churches on the earth is a very crucial matter.  It’s a matter of the churches practically as they are expressed and seen on the earth, not the universal church globally. It’s interesting that this revelation follows in chapter 1, very closely with the matter of the Lord’s coming again. Is this coincidental or is there a purpose?

Revelation (Program #6) – Joint Partaker In the Tribulation Kingdom and Endurance Jesus

Revelation is a book that shows us the Coming of the Lord Jesus. As no other book in the Bible, it’s mentioned in the very first chapter in verse 7, “Behold, He comes with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him…” This verse is the subject of untold Bible studies. But just two verses later, is a verse that is often overshadowed by verse 7, yet it’s a verse that we should surely not miss if we are those who really love His Coming.

James (Program #9) – Practical Virtues of Christian Perfection (9)

Most Christians today view the Lord’s coming in an altogether objective way. In a way that has nothing to do with our spiritual condition or our spiritual growth. Their expectation is that one day the Lord will suddenly come and that His coming will have nothing to do with their maturity. It may be that the concepts many Christians hold regarding Lord’s coming back are actually causing Him to delay His coming.

1 Thessalonians (Program #14) – Watchfulness and Soberness

When Paul wrote words to the Church in Thessalonica to encourage them, he stressed that the life of the believers is a life full of hope. And even at the endurance needed to live the Christian life is linked to that hope and flows out of that hope. But just as what is the hope that he is referring to? Well, is not the hope that one day we will all die and go to be with the Lord in heaven.

Our hope and the hope of all believers is that one day the Lord Jesus will come again and we all will be caught up or rapture to meet Him. The rapture of the believers and the second coming of Christ are topics of immense interest to Christians and even to many unbelievers. But do the popular and common notions about these important matters really hold up in the light of an honest and thoughtful examination of Scripture?
