Genesis (Program #88) – Being Dealt With (9)

We are very much absorbed these days in these life studies and experiences of Jacob.

As a background of Jacob’s life up to this point, you can look from two point of views.  One is what God was doing with Jacob and the other view is what Jacob was doing with God’s promises.   In the first place God chose Jacob and God gave him some promises even work out a lot of ways to deal with him and took him through a lot of experiences.  From God’s point of view, He was really working on Jacob to bring him to full transformed man.  These experiences we’ve had so far are part of the dealings that God had with Jacob.  But from Jacob’s side, when you look at it from his point of view, Jacob is always working things out according to his own view, according to his own standing…

Our story of Jacob, the picture of transformation continues today in Genesis 31.  With Jacob, this process seems to be life-long.  But I heard Christians say that transformation will take place in the twinkling of an eye at the Lord’s return.  Isn’t there a verse in the Bible that confirm this understanding?

Christ as a man is the letter that opens the heavens, that joins the earth to heaven, and that brings heaven down to earth.

When John the Baptist said, “Behold, the Lamb of God”, two disciples were attracted. Not two thousand, but two. Not even twenty, but two. Two of John’s disciples got attracted, and John was happy. Who were these two? One of these two was Andrew. Who was the other one? John. And then Andrew got attracted, and Andrew went to catch his brother Peter. And, Peter came. The Lord Jesus changed his name from Simon to Cephas, which means Peter. And Peter, or Cephas, means a stone. The book of John is a book of allegories. The Lamb, the dove, the stone. This signifies the Lamb plus the dove produces the stone. Redemption plus regeneration and transformation produces stone…

Mark (Program #59) – A Life Fully According To and For God’s New Testament Economy (19)

During the last few months we have been given a memorable and wonderfully clear picture of “A Life Fully According To and For God’s New Testament Economy” as it is portrayed through the gospel of Mark.

This life embodied in our precious Lord Jesus in the gospels is developed through out the entire New Testament, ultimately a peak is reached in the book of Revelation, as we see the final consummation of God’s economy in the New Jerusalem. That final consummation is no longer just a picture of God or Christ alone, but we also as His redeemed and regenerated people are included. What a transformation from our pitiful fallen condition at the time we first received His saving grace to the glorious outcome that awaits all of us to participate in for eternity.
