Mark (Program #11) – The Parables of the Kingdom (1)

The true gospel of God always issues in the kingdom of God. In the gospel of Mark chapter 4 there are 4 parables of the kingdom of God.

Prior to chapter 4 we had seen the beginning with its contents in Mark chapter 1 and the ways of carrying out the gospel service with the auxiliary acts in chapter 2 and 3.  So the simple message here is that the gospel issues in the kingdom of God.

Matthew (Program #52) – Relationships in the Kingdom (1)

In Matthew 18 the disciples asked the Lord Jesus, “who is the greatest in the kingdom of the heavens?”  What would we say?  The one with power to heal or the gifted preacher?  Well, the Lord Jesus answered the question in this way; “and He called a little child to Him and stood him in their midst.. He therefore who will humble himself like this little child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of the heavens.”

Matthew (Program #51) – Vision Concerning Christ

The gospel of Matthew is somewhat different than the other 3.  It chronicled many of the same events but the arrangement of these events in Matthew has little to do with the actual sequence in which they happened.  Rather Matthew presents these cases carefully and strategically and has ordered them to portrait a full revelation of God’s kingdom.  We will see the wonder of the divine arrangement in Matthew again today.

Matthew (Program #42) – The Treasure and the Pearl

6 parables that unlock the mysteries of the kingdom of the heavens are presented by the Lord Jesus Himself in Matthew 13.  Four of these parables depict the visible, outward appearance of God’s kingdom today.  But the last two are much more hidden even difficult to see.  But it is these two that we should focus on most closely because these two are parables of God’s overcoming believers, a treasure hidden in the field, a pearl of immense value.

Matthew (Program #41) – The Establishment of the King’s Rejection (9)

To outward observation, the kingdom of God today appears as a great an imposing tree.  It also appears as a field with both wheat and tares sown together.   And further, it is as a loaf composed of fine flour but leavened to make it light and airy.  This picture of how God’s kingdom would appear in the future was presented by Christ Himself in Matthew chapter 13.

Today we have not just this prophesy or the doctrine of this kingdom, but we have the practical fulfillment of this word, easily seen before our eyes.  But the question we have to consider is does this practical appearance of the kingdom also match what God’s word reveals of His desire for the kingdom?   We continue to explore this meaningful question for all of God’s people…

Matthew (Program #40) – The Establishment of the King’s Rejection (8)

What is the kingdom of God like?  Well, the Lord Jesus in Matthew 13 revealed that the kingdom is like a tender delicious herb, and like bread made from fine flour.  Both of these are good things to eat.  But He goes on to reveal that the kingdom is also like a treasure hidden in the earth and a pearl worth selling all for.  From something good to eat to a most precious treasure.   This is the revelation of the kingdom of the heavens from Matthew 13.

Isaiah (Program #31) – A Twig from the Stem of Jesse & a Branch from the Root of Jesse (1)

Isaiah 11 contains a well-known description of the Kingdom of God where the wolf dwell with the lamb and the leopard with the kid, even a nursing babe is safe in the cobra’s den.  Makes a great bible story for our children doesn’t it?  But when will there be reality to the story?  It will come when the Christ of reality is fully administering His righteous kingdom on the earth.

Revelation (Program #44) -The Beast Out of the Sea (4)

In the Old Testament book of Daniel in chapter two, King Nebuchadnezzar has a great dream, a vision. Daniel who has been imprisoned is the only one able to interpret this dream. In this dream, there was a great image representing all the kingdoms of the earth. And a great stone ultimately smashes the image. And the stone that smote the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth, the Bible says.  Included in the image in Daniel two are all the worldly powers consummating with the Antichrist and his soon-to-be kingdom. The stone is Christ, crushing and replacing the worldly kingdoms with the kingdom of God. This is the view from Daniel chapter two.
