Ephesians (Program #25) – Both Reconciled to God in One Body and Fellow Citizens of the Household of God

Imagine that you are a lonely visitor in a foreign country and meet a fellow citizen of your own country, the American, Great Britain or Canada.  You immediately sense a kind of kinship. But how is that compare with the intimacy and share delight that would result from unexpectedly meeting one of your own family members in the same setting?

Well, this is the situation that should exist with all members of the Body of Christ, the Church. And not just with those who are in our circle of fellowship. For the Bible tells us in Ephesians 2 that not only we are fellow citizens with all the believers in the kingdom of God, but we are also His household, family members. This describes which should be a sweet and intimate relationship with all those who belong to Christ.  We will consider both of these aspects today.

1 Corinthians (Program #30) – Dealing with the Abuse of Freedom (1)

1 Corinthians 6:12 says, “All things are lawful to me, but not all things are profitable; all things are lawful to me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything.” To not be brought under the power of anything –  what does that mean?

6:9-11 “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be led astray; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor homosexuals Nor thieves nor the covetous, not drunkards, not revilers, not the rapacious will inherit the kingdom of God. And these things were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God….”

Acts (Program #22) – The Propagation in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria through the Ministry of Peter’s Company (17)

The Kingdom of God must be preached, and must be in our preaching of the Gospel. Otherwise Christ is not the King, He is only a savior that satisfies our need but doesn’t accomplish God’s goal.

After a glorious beginning, the church in Jerusalem underwent a sudden turn and persecution fell heavily upon the church. The trouble and persecution became so heavy that nearly all the believers except the apostles were forced to leave. They were scattered, to use the Bible’s own phrase.  Was this just God’s enemy reacting to the early success of the gospel or was this a genuine move of God under his sovereign hand? Stay with us for an enlightening and compelling look at the Gospel as it was spread in the first-century church on today’s life study of the Bible.

Luke (Program #46) – The Man-Savior’s Presentation of Himself to Death for Redemption (5)

The Old Testament or Jewish religion focuses on several holy days categorized by feasts. Preeminent among these is the Passover Feast, marking their deliverance from slavery and captivity in Egypt. In Luke, the Lord Jesus, a real Jew instructed His disciples to prepare for a final Passover Feast in the upper room in Jerusalem and then in its’ conclusion He announced the end of the Passover and instituted the first Lord’s Table feast. And He instructed not just to His disciples, but all of us, His New Testament believers to come together and enjoy this feast in remembrance of Him. What is the relationship between the Passover and the Lord’s Table or the Lord’s Supper?  What did He mean when He said “For I tell you I shall by no means drink from now on of the product of the vine until the Kingdom of God comes?”

Luke (Program #37) – The Ministry of the Man-Savior in His Human Virtues with His Divine Attributes from Galilee to Jerusalem (17)

The Bible in both the Old and New Testaments speaks of the coming of the Kingdom of God. The Jews at the time of the Lord Jesus and His disciples had a definite understanding of this fact. So, it’s not surprising that the pharisees questioned Him about when the Kingdom would come. His answer is recorded in Luke 17 gives us tremendous insight, not just to the timing of the Kingdom, but as to what the Kingdom of God is in reality. And, His answer touches many topics of great interest even today such as the rapture of the believers. If you’ve ever wondered when will the Lord Jesus come again and set up His Kingdom, you won’t want to miss our program today.

Luke (Program #29) – The Ministry of the Man-Savior in His Human Virtues with His Divine Attributes from Galilee to Jerusalem (8)

When a mustard seed is planted according to the natural law of life, it grows into a small and tender herb with succulent leaves. Yet, the parable in Luke 13 tells of a mustard seed growing into a great tree with birds lodging in the branches. And this unlikely distortion is presented as a picture of an aspect of the kingdom of God. Is this a positive development, or one from which we should take a strong and serious warning from the Lord?  We’ll explore it on today’s life study.

Luke (Program #22) – The Ministry of the Man-Savior in His Human Virtues with His Divine Attributes from Galilee to Jerusalem (1)

As the Lord Jesus and His disciples were journeying from Galilee through Samaria to Jerusalem three cases are chronicled in Luke chapter 9 regarding different ones who desire to follow Him.  Verse 57 says “And as they went along the road, someone said to Him, I will follow You wherever You go. And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of heaven have roosts, but the Son of Man does not have a place where He may lay His head. And He said to another, Follow Me. But he said, Lord, permit me to go first and bury my father. But He said to him, Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and announce the kingdom of God everywhere. And another also said, I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say farewell to those in my house. But Jesus said to him, No one who puts his hand on the plow and looks behind is fit for the kingdom of God.”
