Romans (Program #36) – Being Freed from Death (1)

We sinners are not sinners only because we commit some sin. Through the fall of Adam, we all were constituted sinners by being born in sin.

We’re somewhere at the midpoint in our study of Romans. I think it’d be helpful if we reviewed briefly and summarized the central focus of this book that has been dubbed, as we mentioned before, “The Gospel of God”.  This book of Romans is called “The Gospel of God” because it gives us the full gospel including the judicial redemption by Christ’s death and the organic salvation in His resurrection life. The focus of the revelation of this book is that God is making sons out of sinners to form the Body of Christ to express Christ. In this book, we have seen also that God is expressed in the Son, Jesus Christ, and further that the Son is expressed in a Body. We have seen and we will see further that the Body is expressed in the local churches.

That’s “The gospel of God” and Romans, as we’ve indicated, has also been called the fifth gospel.

Romans (Program #17) – The Freedom of the Spirit in Our spirit (3)

What’s so marvelous is Romans 8 shows us that Christ as the Spirit of life comes into us and He dispenses Himself as life into our whole being!

What we see in Romans and what we see from this wonderful life study is that Romans shows us the complete salvation of God.  A key verse in the book of Romans is Romans 5:10 which tells us that on the one hand, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son but this verse goes on to say that there’s much more to the Christian life. This much more is that we are saved in His life. This verse shows us the complete salvation of God.  On the one hand, we’re redeemed objectively but then the Lord goes on after we’re redeemed to save us in His life.  That means He dispenses Himself as life into our entire being to make us men of life for the building up of the Body of Christ. This is the complete salvation of God in Romans and this is what this wonderful life study unveils to us. more…

Romans (Program #15) – The Freedom of the Spirit in Our spirit (1)

When we come to Romans chapter eight, we have to say “Hallelujah!” because here, Romans 8 is not a refrigerator, but a dining table and the Lord is saying “Come and dine!”

We have come to one of the landmark chapters in the entire divine revelation today; that is Romans 8. You will not want to miss this life-study.

It’s no accident that Romans 8 follows Romans 7, both in the sequence of the Bible and more significantly in our experience. When you look at Romans 7, you say “Oh what a mess” because it just ends with a wretched man – “Wretched man! Who will deliver me from the body of this death?”  We just see a person who is doing his best to respond to God’s law.  more…

Romans (Program #12) – Identification with Christ

In this life study of Romans, we see that all that we have in Adam. We also see all that we have in Christ. All we have in Adam is but sin and death; I in Christ inherit life and righteousness – what a debit in Adam, what a credit in Christ!

From time to time, the Bible gives us a heavenly accounting lesson. Today is one of those lessons from the book of Romans.

We have been seeing there is a major shift in Romans chapter 5. A shift from the realm of man’s doings and deeds to the man himself, his person.  Romans 5:12 is a very clear verse – “Therefore just as through one man sin entered into the world, and through sin, death; and thus death passed on to all men because all have sinned.”  This book marks a great turn in the book of Romans.  more…

In John 3, Christ as life regenerates man. In John 4, Christ as life satisfies man and heals man from all the sickness of sin. In John 5, Christ as life enlivens man. John (Program #15) – The Need of the Moral People – Life’s Regenerating (2)

Today, when we would repent and lift up our heart and look at the very Jesus crucified on the cross, what would happen to us? I tell you, sin would be removed and the serpentine nature would be dealt with. And, Satan would be destroyed, and we will have life eternity.

Regardless how cold you are or how bad you are, as long as you are a human being, you need to be terminated. And, you need to be germinated. Germinated with what? Germinated with the divine life. You need another life. To get another life, you need another birth.
