Romans (Program #51) – The Flesh and the Spirit

The Bible reveals to us three big enemies to our Christian life: sin, Satan and death. All of these three take advantage of our fallen flesh to frustrate us, but God’s approach to our flesh may surprise you. That’s the focus on today’s Life-Study of the Bible.

In these chapters in Romans, we’re seeing the three enemies and how they are seen as enemies that reign over us. In Romans 5:21, it mentions that sin reigned in death. In 5:14, it says “death reigned”. We learned from the book of Acts that Satan has some kind of authority like the power of darkness. These are the three big enemies. Now, in 5:17, we are promised that those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through Jesus Christ. more…

Romans (Program #24) – God’s Selection, Our Destiny (2)

As Christians, our destiny is to receive God, contain God, be filled with God and express God.  We can enjoy our destiny by opening our mouth wide and calling on the name of the Lord saying, “Lord Jesus, I love You!  Fill me with Yourself.”

Today, we’re in chapter 10. Paul, in this portion gets quite deep in his writing in places.  We want to develop the thought in these portions today, particularly related to the section of chapter 10 and around chapter 10. The overall topic of these three chapters is “God’s selection and our destiny”. It is a tremendous topic showing us that God’s selection is our destiny. Here we can really see our destiny having been selected by God.  We’re selected by God as vessels of God to receive Him, contain Him, and be filled with Him to express Him to fulfill His heart’s desire.  more…

Romans (Program #16) – The Freedom of the Spirit in Our spirit (2)

There is no reason that Christians should suffer from condemnation of any kind.  Rather, they should live a daily life that is victorious according to the Law of the Spirit of life as described in Romans 8.  The apostle Paul in Romans 8:1 says, “There is now then no condemnation to those who are in Christ”. If you have ever experienced condemnation or have battled with this monster that attacks Christians everywhere, you will not want to miss today’s Life-Study.

Probably, condemnation is one of the most common negative conditions of believers everywhere.  All of us have battled with this at one time or another and it really can be a serious problem for all Christians if they don’t get help.  Condemnation is a terrible thing.  We should not live a life under condemnation, yet many Christians do.  more…

Romans (Program #15) – The Freedom of the Spirit in Our spirit (1)

When we come to Romans chapter eight, we have to say “Hallelujah!” because here, Romans 8 is not a refrigerator, but a dining table and the Lord is saying “Come and dine!”

We have come to one of the landmark chapters in the entire divine revelation today; that is Romans 8. You will not want to miss this life-study.

It’s no accident that Romans 8 follows Romans 7, both in the sequence of the Bible and more significantly in our experience. When you look at Romans 7, you say “Oh what a mess” because it just ends with a wretched man – “Wretched man! Who will deliver me from the body of this death?”  We just see a person who is doing his best to respond to God’s law.  more…

Through His incarnation, the Triune God became a man, Jesus Christ, to be among us. Through His death and resurrection, He became the life-giving Spirit to be within us.

Acts (Program #7) – The Propagation in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria through the Ministry of Peter’s Company (2)

Acts chapter 2 verses 1 and 2 says,  “And as the day of Pentecost was being fulfilled, they were all together in the same place. And suddenly there was a sound out of heaven, as of a rushing violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.”  One of the pivotal events in the history of God’s move on earth occurred on the day of Pentecost. The believers were filled with the Spirit, and the Church, as the body of Christ, was ushered in powerfully.

John (Program #51) – Life in Resurrection (2)

We should treasure the way the Lord has ordained to be present with us now. May the Lord really open our eyes: that what is precious to God, that is the invisible, indwelling, pneumatic Christ, would also become precious to us.

In John 20 as in the Gospel of John as a whole, we see the Trinity both in His essence and in His economy. The Divine Trinity is a trinity of essence eternally that is the Father, Son, and Spirit coexist and co-inhere in the Godhead eternally. This is the Trinity in essence. But in order to have the fulfillment of God’s economy, the essential Trinity must function as the economical Trinity to pass through the process in order to, on the one hand, enter into God’s people, and on the other to bring God’s people, now redeemed and regenerated, into God. By the time we reach chapter 20, we have at least the initial completion of this process in which the very God who became a man and died for our redemption, in resurrection became the Spirit, so that, economically speaking, the Father, Son, and Spirit may indwell us.

John (Program #50) – Life in Resurrection (1)

John 1:14 says, the Word became flesh. That means the Word, who was God, became something that He previous was not. When God came out of eternity into time to accomplish His plan, He became flesh. In this sense, God did change.

When we cover these two aspects (God being unchanging and God having changed), what we’re touching is the mystery of the Divine Trinity. So, what we need to do is look at the entire Bible and just say Amen to whatever the Bible says about the Triune God. On the one hand, you know people uses this verse Malachi 3:6, which says that God changes not. And, this is true. But of course, if you look at the context of Malachi 3:6, it’s talking about that God changes not in his principles, in the way that He deals with His people. But also, we know that the Bible shows that God in His eternal being is unchanging. The Bible reveals that the Triune God, the three of the Godhead. On the one hand, they are distinct. The Father, the Son, and the Spirit are eternally distinct, but they also co-inhere. That means that they mutually indwell one another. The Father is in the Son. The Son is in the Father. The Father is in the Spirit. more…
