Luke (Program #2) – Introduction, Subject and Contents of the Gospel (2)

The New Testament is the most marvelous book, tremendous composition yet it is mysterious and beyond our natural comprehension as well. One perplexity is that it gives us four different accounts of the life of Jesus. Why four different accounts of one history? Well that’s because each account highlights a different aspect or facet of this most wonderful and marvelous person in the universe, Jesus Christ. What facet do we see in the gospel of Luke? Well, Luke than more all of the rest of the books in the Bible shows us Jesus Christ as the full, complete, perfect and genuine man. A man unlike any other.

Luke (Program #1) – Introduction, Subject and Contents of the Gospel (1)

The New Testament begins with four different accounts of the life of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Matthew is profound presenting us with Christ as the king in His kingdom; John is mysterious, showing us Christ as the very God; but Luke though not as profound or as mysterious is altogether sweet and pleasant because Luke unveils Jesus Christ as a man. A man who is both sweet and pleasant because His living displays and expresses the very nature and essence of God lived out in His perfect humanity. This is not just a man but the Man-Saviour.

Mark (Program #59) – A Life Fully According To and For God’s New Testament Economy (19)

During the last few months we have been given a memorable and wonderfully clear picture of “A Life Fully According To and For God’s New Testament Economy” as it is portrayed through the gospel of Mark.

This life embodied in our precious Lord Jesus in the gospels is developed through out the entire New Testament, ultimately a peak is reached in the book of Revelation, as we see the final consummation of God’s economy in the New Jerusalem. That final consummation is no longer just a picture of God or Christ alone, but we also as His redeemed and regenerated people are included. What a transformation from our pitiful fallen condition at the time we first received His saving grace to the glorious outcome that awaits all of us to participate in for eternity.

Mark (Program #58) – A Life Fully According To and For God’s New Testament Economy (18)

The 27 books of the New Testament have often been arranged by Christians into three sections. The first section includes the gospels plus the book of Acts as the books of history. And then from Romans to Jude are the epistles, the 21 epistles in the New Testament followed by the concluding book in the Bible, Revelation.

However recently through the life study of Mark, we’ve seen that there is another way to divide the New Testament into sections and this way of dividing the books of New Testament is related to the living Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Because the entire New Testament is concerned with this living Person, Who is the embodiment of the Triune God.

Mark (Program #57) – A Life Fully According To and For God’s New Testament Economy (17)

In the gospel of Mark we see the Lord Jesus as the One Who lived the life according to God’s New Testament economy. The gospel of Mark ends with the Lord’s ascension. Now we need to ask ourselves what is the Lord Jesus doing, now that He has resurrected and ascended?

In order to find out what the Lord is doing after His ascension, we need the book of Acts. And that is what we are going to explore in today’s life study radio program.

The gospel of Mark ends with the Lord’s ascension. So what is the Lord Jesus doing now that He has resurrected and ascended?

In order to find out what the Lord is doing after His ascension, we need the book of Acts. Acts 1:5 says, “For John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”   And Act 1: 8 says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Have you received the Lord Jesus and is He now in You? We all can testify strongly, at least we hope so, that we have received the Lord and that He is in us. But has the Lord been transfigured in you?  We need the Lord to grow in us, until He is blossoms. That blossoming would be the transfiguration of the Lord Jesus in us in a practical way. Such a transfiguration is the kingdom of God.

What is the central thought of the Lord’s message in Mark chapter 4?

The central thought is that the Lord is the sower, sowing Himself into us as a seed. He opened His preaching in chapter 4 with these words, “Behold, the sower went out to sow.” Later in chapter 4:26 He said, “So is the kingdom of God: as if a man cast seed on the earth,

Here we have the Lord as the sower, sowing Himself as the seed into God’s chosen people.

Are you trying to be spiritual, scriptural, holy and victorious? Although this sounds very noble and honorable, it could be this effort that is distracting you from the life giving Spirit so that you could live a life that is fully according to and for God’s New Testament economy.

In Mark chapter 8, 9 the Lord Jesus is recognized as being the Christ. Then He goes on to unveil for the first time, His death and resurrection. It’s very significant that this unveiling comes immediately after the healing of a blind man in Bethesda. Before the Lord Jesus unveiled Himself, He healed a blind man. This indicates that in order to see Christ in His death and resurrection, we need to be healed of our blindness.
