The first chapter of Matthew is a chapter of names.  There are 17 verses of names, the genealogy of Jesus Christ.  The chapter ends, however with two particular names, Jesus and Emmanuel.

In the last chapter of Revelation, the apostle John reports the Lord’s final words to him and to us.  Chapter 22 verse 6 to 7 says, “And he said to me, These words are faithful and true; the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His angel to show to His slaves the things which must quickly take place. And behold, I come quickly.  Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this scroll.”

Twice more in this chapter, the Lord repeats the warning that He is coming quickly. Like John, we all need to be those who heed these words and this warning…
