Mark (Program #3) – The Beginning of the Gospel and the Initiation of the Slave-Savior (1)

Matthew, Luke and John all begin one way or another with the origin of Jesus Christ.  Matthew shows us His kingly genealogy.  Luke, His human genealogy.  And John, His divine, eternal origin as the Son of God.  But Mark begins not with the genealogy rather with the gospel. “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”  What is the gospel?  Well, Roman tells us that the gospel is the glad tidings, the good news. The reality of that good news is Jesus Christ our savior. And as Mark shows us the slave of God serving His people.

Exodus (Program #51) – The Testimony of God Revealing Him to His People

After miracles to rescue His people and more miracles to feed them and quench their thirst and even more miracles on the field of battle conquering their enemies, God brings His people Israel to a mountain, the mountain of God and here He desires to enter into fellowship with them.  This fellowship began with God giving them not another miracle but giving them His law.  The law, we will find out is something much different than we’ve ever image.

Today we come to the mountain of God and the ten commandments, as given by God to Moses but interpreted for us by Witness Lee as he gave this message in 1980.  As we began a lengthy look, a six-week long look for those listening to our daily program of the giving and the interpreting of the law of God.   This is a look that’s going to be very refreshing for our listeners. more…

Mark (Program #2) – A Word of Introduction (2)

Many people wonder why the Bible gives us four historical accounts of the life and ministry in Jesus. One of reasons is the each of the four gospels portrays Christ in a unique aspect.  For example, Matthew a book on the kingdom of God reveals Christ in His kingship. Luke shows us Christ’s perfect and upright humanity as a genuine man.  John on the other hand stresses the eternal, uncreated life of God as it is revealed in Christ. John is the gospel of Christ’s divinity.

Then what about Mark?  Well, chapter 10:45 gives us a clue,  “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Mark is wonderful in that it uniquely reveals that Christ lay aside His kingship, His status as God and even His position as a high and honored man to become God’s servant and eventually to become a slave to all mankind giving His life as a ransom for many.

Exodus (Program #50) – Brought into the Presence of God and into the Knowledge of Him

In the Old Testament book of Exodus, the Lord first saved His people, brought them through a kind of baptism and then provided them a full provision for their living and sustenance.  Ultimately, He led them into victory over their enemies.  All in all we would say “if only I experience God to this degree I’d be satisfied.”  But all of those was preliminary.  For God’s desire was to bring them to a place where He can enter into a sweet and intimate contact or fellowship with Himself.  We should never be satisfied with our Christianity until we have God’s speaking.  Stay with us for this marvelous life study of the Bible.

We’ve come to a turning point in our broadcast.  We’ve just finished our first section of Exodus.  In that section God has been very active among His people.  But it’s in the second section of the book that He really bring them to His purpose and His intention.

Mark (Program #1) – A Word of Introduction (1)

It’s very interesting to pay attention to how each of the four gospels begin.  Matthew, a gospel that focuses on the kingdom, begins with the long genealogy of Christ, demonstrating that He is the bonafide heir of David the king.  Luke, on the other hand also shows us the genealogy but not that of a king, rather it’s a genealogy of a proper and upright man.  The gospel of John begins in a much different way – “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.”  John is the gospel that reveals Christ’s divinity.

But what about the gospel of Mark?   Mark has no genealogy what so ever. Because Mark is the gospel revealing not just the humanity of Jesus, but that in His humanity Jesus Christ took the position of a slave. And He came to us a Slave-Savior.

Exodus (Program #49) – A Type of the Kingdom

After rescuing, baptizing, feeding and caring for every need among His people Israel God led them into victorious battle against Amalek, their greatest enemy.  This is the summary of the first half of Exodus.  Then following comes a simple, short chapter, chapter 18 seemingly out of sequence and with little significance.  But the real significance of this chapter will surprise you. Stay us for a rich and enlightening life study of the Bible.

Chapter 18 of Exodus is a difficult one.  We will hear from Witness Lee that it is the most difficult chapter in the entire book of Exodus.  But in reading this chapter it seems quite simple…

Exodus (Program #48) – Amalek Versus Kingship

Sin is a wicked and despicable thing.  The Bible condemn sin and as believers we must also condemn.  But sin is not the only enemy that we face in the Christian life.  In fact it may not even be the biggest enemy.  So then what constitute the main hindrance to believers and what is God’s remedy?

As we continue to look at Amalek, a formidable and very resilient adversary for God’s Old Testament people.  Formidable indeed.   We appreciate a faithful ministry that not only unveils Christ but exposes the flesh and applies the cross to it according to the divine revelation.  So we look to the Lord to bless this program and our fellowship so that the real seekers of the Lord and His Word, who had been hindered by the flesh for so long may receive life, grace and life supply that they may overcome and press on with the Lord to the consummation of His economy.

Matthew (Program #75) – Wrap-up

Matthew 24:14 says, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole inhabited earth for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

All believers would like to know when the Lord Jesus will come again. Even many who do not profess to believe are intrigued by this question as well. The gospel of Matthew, more than any other book in scripture, gives us clear and definite signs. The chief among all its prophecies is one contained in this verse. The preaching not of the general common gospel, but rather the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom.

Exodus (Program #47) – The Continual Fighting Against Amalek

If we could have a birds-eye view of Exodus, we will realize that even after God’s people are redeemed and baptized and brought to feed and drink on the living Christ, they still must face a fierce and subjective enemy.  Even more to be regarded than the world and sin is the flesh, our flesh.  How does God deal with the flesh?  This is our focus on today’s life study of the Bible.

Matthew (Program #74) -The King’s Victory

For a Christian, no other event recorded in scripture can compare with the resurrection of Christ. It uniquely embodies the critical component of our faith. To many, it demonstrates God’s ultimate power. But if our eyes are open, even I would say “blessed”, we see not God’s power manifested in the raising of Christ Jesus from the dead so much as we see His righteousness.
