John (Program #27) – The Need of the Blind in Religion – Life’s Shepherding

Our good Shepherd laid down His human life for us in order that the divine life could now be imparted to us.

John 10 is the direct continuation of the events in chapter 9. And together, they form a case of the need of the blind in religion. In chapter 9, there was a man blind from birth. And, the Lord gave him sight by the Lord’s being the light of life to him and by the anointing through His speaking. This took place on the Sabbath day. And, healing on the Sabbath was something prohibited, not by God, but by the religionists.

God’s economy is not to have a giant, litter with power to accomplish some movement. No.  God’s economy is to send His son to be the little lamb with His Spirit as the little dove.

The main subject of this message is Christ as the Lamb of God with the Spirit as the dove to produce stones for God’s building. If I would ask you, what are the main points or main things in this title?  Number one, Jesus as the Lamb of God. You have to pick up Lamb. The second point, the dove. And the third point, stone. And the fourth point, the house or the building of the house. What is the last item? The Son of Man. These are the five main points: the Lamb for redemption, the dove for anointing and uniting, the stone for material, and the house as the building, and the man as the very substance. In a well-known exchange between the Lord Jesus and the devil, Satan tempted Him to simply perform a miracle to proof His divine status.  As the genuine and all-powerful God, this would have been easy for Him to perform a simple miracle.  But instead He answered the challenge by saying to Satan, “you shall not test the Lord, your God”.  We are going to look at 3 major tests given to the newly annointed King in Matthew chapter four.

Of course we all know the story that Jesus was born as a babe in Bethlehem.  We also know that Jerusalem was the religious capital of the world in His time.  But it is interesting the Bible introducing His ministry doesn’t say that Jesus came from Bethlehem and went to Jerusalem.  Rather it says then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan.

1 John (Program #24) – The Virtues of the Divine Birth to Practice the Divine Righteousness (2)

In the epistle of first John there are three main sections. The fellowship of the divine life from the beginning of the book to 2:11. The teaching of the anointing starting in 2:12 through 2:27 and the virtues of the divine birth from 2:28 to the end of the book, 5:21.

The sequence of these three sections is important and it indicates the fellowship of the divine life and the teaching of the anointing bring us into the virtues of the divine birth.

1 John (Program #23) – The Virtues of the Divine Birth to Practice the Divine Righteousness (1)

The book of 1 John though short in length is anything but short in its’ spiritual content.  This short epistle conveys some of the richest and deepest thought in all of the New Testament. Even its’ sequence is marvelous. Beginning with the divine life and the fellowship of the life which is our participation in God’s life. It then moves on to the teaching of the anointing. Which as we had already seen and is crucial to the experience and growth of every believer. Finally it come to the last main section that of the virtues of the divine life that we possess by the divine birth. And it is here that we see the progression brought to its’ consummation. That the children of God become His eternal expression and counterpart. All in this short book of 1 John.
